Today we continue our mini series on the life of Elijah the prophet. Elijah was a man just like us (James 5.17) He was a mountain climber but he also walked through some valleys as well. He was sent to Zarepath, an industrial town of furnaces and smelters.
This was to be a testing time for him, the widow and her son, but God miraculously provided for these 3 in a severe trial. The meal and oil never ran out during a depressing drought! Then, in the midst of a miracle, the son of the widow dies. Elijah is the man who prays and witnesses the resurrection of the boy.
But there is more!
Elijah, bold and courageous confronts the 450 prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel and witnesses that “my God answers by fire”!!
But now the mountain top experiences take a turn into the valley of depression. Elijah, the man of God sinks into fear, anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.
How does God respond to His servant? Is there a way out? Can he be healed and restored?
